ICS RECOGNIZES CARIBBEAN AMERICAN CONTRIBUTIONS AT 18th ANNUAL CARIBBEAN AMERICAN HERITAGE (CARAH) AWARDS
A skillful dancer and choreographer, a world acclaimed author, an international media strategist, and an innovative physicist. Those are among the individuals that will be honored by the Institute of Caribbean Studies (ICS) at the 18th Annual Caribbean American Heritage (CARAH) Awards Gala on November 11, 2011. The elegant affair recognizes individuals of Caribbean descent of accomplished and emerging stature in their field of expertise or who have made outstanding contributions to the community.
The CARAH celebrates excellence in literature, science and technology, community service and corporate leadership. Among the honorees are a renowned author, award-winning choreographer, internationally recognized media strategist, prominent scientist, world renown theologian, and accomplished technology specialist -- Maryse Conde, Garth Fagan, Janet Rolle, Arlie Petters, Neville Callam and Larry Quinlan.
This year's gala hosts include best selling author Beverley East; civility expert Yasmine Anderson-Smith; Anthony Powell, former White House Mess Hall Chief and Caribbean Professionals Network founder Finiana Joseph.

ICS PRESIDENT AND FOUNDER FEATURED ON TOP MORNING SHOW -- JUMPSTART, HOT 102 FM, JAMAICA
Dr. Claire Nelson, was a Special Guest of the popular morning show JUMPSTART hosted by Rose Bennett on Friday, August 12th. Dr. Nelson discussed the IMAGINE JAMAICA 50 Blog which she launched in partnership with Jamaicans.com to bring about active dialogue on the future of Jamaica. Her article "My Birthday WishList for Jamaica" proposed fifty activities for execution over the coming year leading up to August 6th 2012.
